Within the concept of willing to risk excess on behalf of one’s obsessions, new work from Barry Anderson, Jon Scott Anderson, Anthony Baab, Robert Bingaman, James Brinsfield, Justin Gainan, Peregrine Honig, Anne Lindberg, Marcie Miller Gross, Garry Noland, David Rhoads, Davin Watne, Susan White, Andrzej Zieliński.

Social media has a tendency to allow us to be alone together. Anson the Ornery’s #helpie requires two people to create the selfie; one needs to crank a generator while the other takes a photograph in front of the landscape that lights up via the generation. We’re interested to see this in action and the discussion that comes out of it.


Studio Residency Holiday Open Studios, presented by Charlotte Street Foundation

Charlotte Street studio residents are opening up shop to show Kansas City what they have been working on during the first half of their residency. This is always great to see, new residents and old! for info on the residents click here 

Third Installment of MIDWEST QUEER EXISTENCE

Final installment of the Midwest Queer Existence series at Vacant Farm. Artists Do Nut, Kelsey Wroten, Lyndsey Lesh, Jessica Borusky, and Brock Bryan will be featured this evening. A group artist talk will also happen Saturday at 1pm led by Danny Orendorff.

Presentations by Arzelyn T. Umali (Assistant Director, Women’s Center at UMKC), fiber artists and activists NedRa Bonds & Sherry Whetstone with curator Anna-Maria Kretzer, and performance artist Jessica Borusky will highlight how the arts explores expressions against or related to experiences of gender-based violence. Organized as a part of the Craft, Care, & Justice Hub

SPECTRA’s reoccurring short film series presents a collection of queer feminist videos curated by Jessica Borusky. Video pieces by artists include: The Divine David, Karen Finley, Orlan, Andy Kaufman, Vaginal Creme Davis, Jack Smith, Maria Bamford, Zackary Drucker, Coco Fusco & Guillermo Gomez Pena, and Jayson Musson (and more).  This event will culminate with a discussion following the videos.
