2016 Charlotte Street Visual Artist Awards Exhibition

The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art’s crossroads gallery will be showing the work of the three 2016 Charlotte Street Visual Artist Fellows. Work by local artists Madeline Gallucci, Rodolfo Marron III, and Shawn Bitters will be featured in a show curated by Erin Dziedzic.

Led by artist Caitlin Horsmon, Front/Space has been transformed into a Camera Obscura! This device creates a projection of the outside world using the sun and a pinhole. With this installation Horsmon has a variety of workshops, performances, screenings, and talks over the course of the month. A calendar of events will be posted on Front/Space’s website and Facebook page.

PLUG OUTLETS is a new program with PLUG Projects interns. PLUG Projects’ news stands are repurposed to introduce new forms of media to an older distribution model. The second iteration of this project is lead by BOI BOY and Madelyn Girard exploring what is classified as a gallery. Small installations encorporate writing and miniatures to question the significance of spaces and bring attention to the small details in our surroundings. The two outlets will feature the installations Visitation, 2016 A collaboration between Zoe Chressanthis and Sheila Rae & Nest, 2016 A collaboration between Emily Souers and Crista Siglin

WEIRD WOMEN WHO DRAW

All drawing exhibition featuring work by female artists Alex Micallef, Aminah Slor, Andrea Lukic, Cara Murphy, Erin Zona, Georgia Galloway, Heather Benjamin, Jessica Poplawski, Lily Wong, Olivia Gibb, Pearl Olsen, Sarabeth Dunton, and Theresa Moher. There will also be a risograph printed zine available at the opening cataloging the exhibition with artist interviews.
